Quantum research involves studying intuition-defying  phenomena, one of which is quantum entanglement – famously quipped by Einstein as “spooky action at a distance". This process is now studied with the aim of applying it to stronger cryptography, higher resolution microscopy and other applications. In addition to cryptography, communication and computing may soon rely on high-fidelity readouts of entangled photons that are detected by the most sensitive optical imagers including EMCCD, intensified CCD and sCMOS cameras.
